| To enable the Kenwood TS-140S for transmitting on all bands (and some periodic maintenance):
Disconnect radio from power supply and antenna.
Remove top and Bottom covers .
Locate the control board. It's under the bottom cover of the rig.
Cut D31 on the control board. Cut one end and bend the diode away from the cut lead, to allow easy "undoing" later if needed.
Now is a good time to replace the memory battery! Kenwood p/n W09-0515-05. Note: If using a grounded iron, make sure that NO grounds are touching the rig (antenna, power connector, etc) or you will short the battery + with the iron tip.
Reassemble the radio.
Reset of the radio most likely is not necessary; if so, press A=B switch while powering up the rig.
Annually, use a 1.5mm allen wrench to remove the main tuning knob. Place one drop of a good synthetic oil on the VFO shaft where it enters the bushing.
